Star GB reflect on 2013, a great year for Manufacturing
As 2013 draws to a close, Star GB have been reflecting on the year’s events and the successes they have been fortunate enough to experience.
Chief among Star’s achievements this year were a number of brand new models of sliding head lathe. Their latest flagship model, the SV-38R, is a worthy replacement for the long-serving SV-32 machine with increased capacity and outstanding capability. This monolithic machine was announced alongside the all-new SB-12R, which showcases Star’s small-diameter machining capability better than any machine before it.
Star were also delighted to welcome several new faces into the Star fold: Lewis Nicholson, Chris McDonough, and Tom Loasby make up a new crop of young engineering blood, and Alec Warner joined the team as Engineering Manager. The new members have revitalised the team dynamic and promise great things for the future.
It’s also been a bumper year for events: as well as hosting two successful Open House events of their own at their headquarters in Derbyshire, Star also made an appearance at the major European exhibition EMO Hannover and the Manufacturing South West 2013 Show, a brand new UK-based event.
This constant positive activity promoted buyer confidence in Star and spelled success in the form of buoyant machine sales, and with the Yen weakening through the year’s closing quarter, this trend looks set to continue into 2014. Star would like to thank all of their trusted partners and customers for being part of a stellar year in manufacturing.
