TRUMPF to demonstrate its very latest laser marking technology

Added to MTDCNC by TRUMPF on 11 April 2014

Naturally TRUMPF will be demonstrating its very latest laser marking technology for plastic parts at PDM but the exhibition will also provide the opportunity for visitors to learn more about the company’s brand new welding station for plastics.  It’s the TruLaser Station 5005 which will be especially interesting to those who are newcomers to laser welding.

The TruLaser Station 5005 is easy to operate and, thanks to its integrated dust collector, it occupies little space too. A tiltable control panel equipped with touch screen, process monitor and feed rate controller is used to programme the machine.  The panel itself is also mounted on a swivel arm for user comfort.

In addition to three linear axes, the TruLaser Station 5005 has rotary and swivel axes for the focusing optics that permit welding angles of up to 120â—¦.  All axes can be interpolated simultaneously, allowing even parts with complex geometries to be joined effortlessly.

The capacity of the system is 300 x 300 x 500mm and, depending on the application, users can choose between fixed and scanning optics; indeed this is one of the major advantages of this new machine over its forerunners.

TRUMPF has a range of processing machines that are ideal for the plastics industry and one of those highlighted at PDM will be the new TruMicro Series 2000.  This is an affordable entry level range of picosecond laser systems suitable for high precision separation and structuring.  It is able to ablate thin film layers made from polyimides and other plastics just 100 nanometers thick.
