New Turn Milling Machine for Complex Parts

New Turn Milling Machine for Complex Parts

Added to MTDCNC by MTDCNC on 26 July 2012

Having a ± 120 degrees B-axis, a 38 (optionally 76) position tool magazine, the possibility of a lower turret with 10 driven tools, ± 105 mm of Y axis movement and a CNC swivelling counter-spindle, the new CTX alpha 450 TC from DMG Mori Seiki offers high performance and flexibility for machining components up to 370 mm diameter and 450 mm long.

Capable of 5-axis, 6-sided turn-milling, the compact lathe is aimed at complete machining of complex workpieces, notably in the medical, aerospace, metrology and watchmaking industries. Fitting a bar magazine allows automated production of components up to 65 mm diameter.

High productivity is promoted by short chip-to-chip times below seven seconds, an 11 kW / 6,000 rpm turning spindle and a 7.5 kW / 20,000 rpm milling spindle, while linear scales ensure high accuracy machining.

An innovative feature of the DMG ERGOline ShopTurn 3G control with 19" screen is its multi-channel programming, allowing the user to choose between graphical 3D shop floor programming, DIN (G and M code) programming or DXF import. Moreover, shop floor programming can be flexibly integrated with customer cycles, externally generated program modules and DIN code, with the entire program simulated on-screen.

In addition, the control provides user images to speed safe set-up, an Ethernet port for fast data exchange, easy fault resolution based on diagnostics messages, and functions for preventative maintenance.
