One of the most useful features of the MULTUS U series in an option called TURN-CUT, which enables this powerful multi-tasking machine to process parts that would traditionally require an additional set up of the part. It therefore eliminates the need to acquire any additional machines, tooling, fixtures or add-on components for this purpose. In many cases the part’s properties, such as its size, weight and shape, can prevent it from being able to be set up in a lathe to begin with. However, with TURN-CUT, even large awkwardly shaped and unbalanced parts remain stationary as the cutting is done by the motion of the tool. By synchronising the X and Y circular motion with the M spindle, the tool performs the required motion.
The programming option thus allows for the creation of surfaces that taper, arc, or have varying diameter shapes along the Z-axis of a work piece. Turn-Cut is therefore ideally suited for creating valves, pipes and manifolds.
