WNT multi-tool demo leads to cycling success

Sales of WNT (UK)’s workholding systems are growing on the back of their versatility, quality and accuracy. At the forefront of this growth is its MNG Zero Point system, which has been the focus of recent open house demonstrations that have generated much interest with visitors.

To highlight how the MNG Zero Point system of baseplates can provide a simple, highly versatile, and cost-effective method of locating vices and fixtures to the machine table, WNT has created a practical demonstration manufacturing four multi-point tools in a single set-up. The bonus being that these versatile demonstration pieces are available free of charge to any customer requesting a visit from one of WNT’s Technical Sales Engineers to gain more information on MNG Zero Point.

In addition to being able to quickly, and accurately position vices/workholding on the machine table, MNG Zero Point baseplates also make use of a simple mechanical clamping system, eliminating the need for hydraulics or air connections. The result is a unit cost up to 40 per cent less than comparable hydraulic systems and, one that is much easier to integrate into a machine tool set-up. The system is available as flat base plates for three-axis machines, as well as variants for four- and five-axis set-ups, all of which are available on WNT’s guaranteed next-day delivery promise.

'The idea for the multi-tool demonstration came from the fact that many of the team at WNT are keen cyclists, as are a high number of our customers, so a practical demonstration creating a tool that people can actually use seemed like a sensible idea. This combination also created the perfect opportunity to extend WNT’s sponsorship of motorcycle racer Sam Burman who, along with her partner Marcus Nainby, formed a ladies road and mountain cycling team. The team consists of Sam, Sophie Lankford, Elisa McDonagh and Victoria Williams, with Marcus as team manager. The WNT cycling team is aiming to compete in the women's national series, the women's team series and the Matrix fitness tour series, which will be covered by Eurosport and ITV4,' says Tony Pennington, Managing Director, WNT (UK). 'While the WNT cycle team, while still in its infancy it has already had its first ‘Champagne moments’, with Sam taking a comfortable win in the women's sport class of the Midlands Cross Country Series and Sophie sprinting to a clear victory in a recent road race in Bedford.'

Customers close to Sheffield can see a demonstration of the MNG Zero Point system at WNT’s technical centre in Sheffield, where it is being shown alongside the ESG Mini and H5G vice systems. Alternatively, all of WNT (UK)’s Technical Sales Engineers have access to demonstration kits that can be demonstrated on-site, again highlighting the speed and simplicity of set-up.
