Anayak & Correa bed mill plus a Johnford at Pure Medium CNC

Anayak & Correa bed mill plus a Johnford at Pure Medium CNC

Added to MTDCNC by DTS (UK) Ltd on 26 April 2013

PureMedium CNC Ltd (PMCNC) is an advanced Computer Numerical Control (CNC) manufacturing organisation centrally located in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.  PMCNC machine press tools for the wind turbine, aerospace, defence and automotive markets as well as other component manufacture.  Within this fast-moving industry PMCNC takes great pride in utilising the latest technology and equipment in every aspect of their work.

For example their successful introduction of Catia and Cadds 5 workstations and Work NC assisted shop floor programming has ensured that they can deliver innovative and cost effective solutions and a completely in-house design manufacture and sub-contract service to their many satisfied customers.  As a direct result PMCNC is a deservedly successful business operating a wide array of machine tools, including bed mills, VMCs and larger CNC milling machines.  On-site in Nuneaton PMCNC uses its CNC Machining processes to machine materials such as polystyrene, foam, ureal board, timber, aluminium, cast iron, tooling resin and many more.

Although currently enjoying a period of steady business growth, the PMCNC senior management team is not complacent and are responsibly looking forward in anticipation of further growth over the coming years.  Consequently they have already taken the decision to invest in further new technology and more spindles (machine tools) to cope with both demand and expected increases in production demand.

PMCNC Managing Director Keith Oldham has many years of experience under his belt, not only in engineering but in the procurement of machine tools.  As can be imagined, having been responsible for investing significant sums of money in hardware over his working lifetime in the industry – Keith is no stranger to making ‘hard’ decisions when it comes to ‘hardware’.

When asked about his hardware investment plans for PMCNC, Keith responded, 'We see dozens of ‘reps’ each week through our door, all boasting the benefits of their particular machine tools.  And it is indeed amazing the choice that engineers have these days, especially with machines coming in from the Far-East and Eastern Europe.  As a business, we tend to consider both the actual machine tool and the company that’s going to supporting it.  Our business success demands on reliability, performance and accuracy and not all of these aspects can be satisfied by the machine alone.

Over recent years we have invested hundreds of thousands of pounds with Chorley, Lancashire based Design and Technical Services Ltd (DTS).  We’ve formed a good working relationship and have bought several machine tools from DTS now including an Anayak bed mill, a Correa bed mill and now a Johnford SV41 VMC.

This Johnford machining centre offered us another spindle, a solid foundation for machining difficult materials and demanding applications.  It was also very competitively priced, allied to the excellent support experience we already enjoyed with DTS on our other machine investments.  I think when you look at the Johnford SV41 VMC compared to the competition - it is very apparent that the Johnford machine has been built to last.  It also has a generous working envelope allowing us to hold and produce larger components.

Overall it’s got to be seen as another successful machine tool purchase for us from DTS'.
