Hyfore buys the 'Perfect' Grinding Centre from RK International

Hyfore buys the 'Perfect' Grinding Centre from RK International

Hyfore Engineering Ltd has now extended its plant list with the addition of a new surface grinder from RK International. Hyfore is a Coventry based company that is part of the Engineering Technologies Group (ETG) that specialises in the design and manufacture of cost effective, bespoke manual and automatic work-piece holding systems for manufacturing industry.

The addition of the Perfect Machine Co grinding centre to the Hyfore plant list was to enable the company to precisely finish jigs, fixtures, gauges, rotary devices, hydraulic work holding systems, special purpose machines and turnkey workholding solutions for all CNC machining centres.
Stuart McCullagh, the Technical Sales Manager at Hyfore says: 'The reason we like the RK International machine is because it can run unmanned. It has a CNC control system that automates the process whilst the working capacity enables us to grind larger surface plates. So, the machine has given us flexibility and increased productivity and that is essentially what we were looking for.'

'In addition, the machine has a particularly large Y-axis and this is important to us, as a recent contract we won will include twin spindle base plate fixtures and this can take the job up to 2m in the X-axis and over 600mm in the Y-axis. The new grinding centre will give us 700mm in the Y-axis, so it will easily accommodate the new project.'

With regard to precision and repeatability, Mr McCullagh says: 'These are two key elements for our customers. It's important for us because when we CMM the fixture, we have to work to within 2-3 microns repeatability and surface flatness. We are very happy that we can easily achieve that with the new RK machine.'
