Blackburn based Group Training Association, Training 2000 has turned to the proven reliability, build-quality and affordability of Colchester Student lathes and Europa milling machines to equip its state-of-the-art engineering training facility.

Training 2000 is a charitable trust set up by a consortium of Lancashire businesses and is now one of the largest Group of Training Associations in England, with over 40 years' experience of delivering high quality work-based learning and training programmes to industry and individuals on a national scale, from small engineering toolrooms to large ‘blue chip’ manufacturers.

As one of the most successful independent work based learning providers of training courses all Training 2000’s courses involve tailored classroom instruction combined with practical workshop activities.  Additionally, all training is delivered by occupationally qualified and experienced instructors at Training 2000’s Engineering Centre of Vocational Excellence and leads to the achievement of a National Vocational Qualification at level 2 or 3 and a Technical Certificate or Diploma.

Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire-based 600 UK has supplied 5 of its highly successful Colchester Student manual centre lathes together with 5 Europa manual turret mills to further enhance Training 2000’s impressive training facilities for their engineering apprenticeships scheme.

Colchester lathes have a long history and track-record for engineering training worldwide.  They continue to have an important ongoing role in delivering the skills needed by the high-technology engineering industry.

With this in mind, engineering apprentices at Training 2000, are benefiting from the centre’s investment in Colchester technology by acquiring vital machining skills that Training 2000 believes are essential skills for the future.

Michael Hunt, Operations Director at Training 2000 said: “We have used the Colchester Student lathes for many years and they have proven to be a reliable and effective tool for training our learners. This additional resource has been integral to us meeting the increasing apprentice numbers along with the time they spend on the machines.”

Howard Bamforth 600 UK’s Sales Director, said: “600 UK have a well-established, respected reputation for supplying highly affordable teaching technology to engineering colleges and other training providers and we are delighted that Training 2000 identified the Colchester Student lathe as the best in the market for training the engineers of tomorrow.
