James Fisher Nuclear (JFN) is an established supplier of specialist engineering, manufacturing and technical services for applications within challenging environments and areas that have high integrity requirements. As part of James Fisher and Sons PLC, a leading provider of marine and engineering services, JFN is able to leverage substantial group resources and an international supply chain to help deliver a wide range of projects from concept through to manufacture, installation and commissioning.

The technical expertise and integration of GFN&rsquos multi-disciplined design teams has become the basis of many valuable long-term relationships with major companies within the nuclear, aerospace, process and general engineering industries. In addition, the company count the defence and the blue light services as customers. Working within these complex and demanding sectors to high levels of quality and safety, JFN have developed a range of advanced design and manufacturing skills and an international reputation for responsiveness and delivery.

JFN provides industry with a diverse range of both "standard" and bespoke designs and equipment. Products supplied range from components and sub assemblies through to rigs, instruments, systems and skid-mounted turn-key plants for the processing of hazardous materials. The company is also able to support full project lifecycles, including training, operations, maintenance and decommissioning through the provision of structured support documentation. To ensure the continued quality of the company&rsquos output, JFN make regular purchases of the best available Machine Tools and ancillary equipment. Typical of the company&rsquos investments are their 4 Victor CNC Lathes, including a recently purchased Vturn II 20.

Barry Kneeshaw JFN Production Manager enthused, &ldquoHaving had demonstrations of several alternative CNC Lathes, we purchased our fist Victor CNC Lathe in the mid-eighties. We were immediately impressed by the quality and quantity of the output from our Victor TNS when compared to some of our existing machine tools.

Having also been delighted with the levels of service and back-up that we received from Victor UK, we bought 2 further Victor CNC Lathes. Our Victor Vturn 26 and Victor Vturn 36 models were purchased to help us keep-up with the growing demand for our output and to replace older, less efficient Lathes. As with our first Victor Lathe, both have proved ultra-reliable and able to produce large volumes of high quality work.

&ldquoThe flexibility of our Victor Machine Tools means that they are used for the manufacture of components for a wide range of industries, typical of the demanding nature of our customers is RMSpumptools.&rdquo

As a world leader in Artificial Lift Specialist Completion Technology and Accessory Tools for Electrical Submersible Pumps, failure in the field of the company&rsquos products would prove disastrous. Mindful of our reputation for the quality of our output, RMSpumptools entrusts the manufacture much of its high-precision, complex turned parts to JFN.

Barry Kneeshaw continues &ldquoOur continuous expansion and rising demand for smaller turned parts recently lead to the purchase of a Victor Vturn-A20. Now installed and making a very productive contribution, the &lsquo20&rsquo shares the same robust &lsquoworkhorse&rsquo attributes as our existing Victor CNC Lathes. As with our other Victor models the Vturn-A 20 has proven to be easy to operate and able to produce work of the required high standard.&rdquo

With more than 55 years of experience within the area of lathe manufacturing, Victor Taichung have now upgraded the structural rigidity of the Vturn-A 20 series, and introduced the new Vturn A-series lathes&rsquo headstocks, box slideways, turrets, carriages and even the coolant and chip disposal systems, to further enhance the popular machines&rsquo legendary reliability.

Victor&rsquos Vturn-A 20 caters for customers looking for a relatively small sized lathe that is capable of handling an extremely wide range of jobs and materials. Though compact in size the flexible machine is able to undertake an impressive array of turning tasks, from small chucking jobs to shaft work. The Victor Vturn-A 20&rsquos generous machining area ensures that it is ideal for small to medium batch production.

The Vturn-A 20 range has a swing over the bed of 700 mm, over the carriage of 550mm, a bar capacity of 52 mm, chuck diameter of 200mm and a turning length of 600 mm.

The inclusion of a heavy duty spindle with large bearing diameters enables the Victor Vturn-A20 to handle heavy cuts with ease, giving a cutting capability that for this size machine is unsurpassed in its class.
