In-Comm and partners launch the 36,000 sq/ft MCMT

The Marches Local Enterprise Partnership has teamed up with local employers in the Marches region to find out what skills were missing in the area. Working with large manufacturers and SMEs alike, the organisation put a tender together for the Skills Program and was duly awarded the funding for a 36,000sq/ft factory space for practical off-the-job training.

Trainees at the new facility will learn everything from fitting, turning, milling, metrology, automotive skills and everything through to training on high-end CNC machine tools. Prospective apprentices can apply for positions for the first intake of apprentices that starts in September 2017. Trainees will obtain level 2, 3 and 4 engineering qualifications with the prospect of higher education degrees being obtained through universities.

The centre has been established by a four company consortium that consists of Grainger & Worrall, IN-COMM, Salop Design & Engineering and Classic Motor Cars. Companies in the Marches region can access the facility for their apprentices and trainees to obtain vital engineering skills.
