Compact Machines And Software Enhancements

Hurco will showcase the latest software developments available on the company’s proprietary Max5 CNC system on stand G200. Enhancing the popular, easy-to-use conversational routines in the control, the Solid Model Import option will be presented.

Whereas previously only 2D DXF files could be loaded directly into the control to create conversational data blocks, now it is possible to import 3D STEP or IGES files including splines and Z-depths. For machining 5-sided parts, transform plane commands are calculated automatically.

One of the exhibits at Southern Manufacturing will be the compact Hurco VM5i machining centre with a working volume of 457 x 356 x 356 mm. Capable of fitting into a space less than two metres wide and able to enter a doorway two metres high, the machine will impress visitors by its ability to offer true machining centre performance. Steel cutting demonstrations will take place throughout show.

Sharing equal prominence on the stand will be a Hurco TM10i 2-axis CNC lathe. It turns parts up to 450 mm in diameter, 720 mm long, and is well suited to bar work up to 77 mm diameter. The performance of this compact, accurate turning machine is complemented by the Max5 control. Simple, easy-to-follow graphics guide the user through all operations and tooling options. The new XP model enhancements mean that concurrent programming, improved graphics and roller guideways are now standard features.

The slant-bed lathe is supplied with a 10-inch hydraulic three-jaw chuck, parts catcher, swarf conveyor, £500 worth of Dormer Pramet tooling and vouchers for MacInnes coolant and lubricants.
