Gewefa re-inforces its position as UK’s leading toolholding supplier at MACH 2018

Stand 362, Hall H17

Backed by a toolholding inventory that covers every format and cutter securing technique along with supporting products from partners Pibomulti, OTT-Jakob, EWS, Nann and Rineck, Gewefa UK will have a significant presence at MACH 2018.

There will be UK debuts for a number of products – notably Gewefa’s M96 ER hydraulic collet chuck securing concept and a new range of modular angle heads from Pibomulti that offer 30% cost savings alongside a wide range of format options.

EWS will be majoring on its quick change Varia toolholding system, OTT-Jakob on its Power Check pull force gauge and accessories while Nann – whose range of standard collet chucks is still the largest in Europe – and Rineck with its extensive range of universal heat shrink clamping machines will both be present.

The Gewefa M96 ER hydraulic collet is a highly flexible toolholding system that fixes on the collet location of ER driven head spindles.  It is though, a hydraulic chuck so offers exceptional all around grip on the cutter with anti-vibration damping for improved surface finish.  Features include a consistent spindle run out and automatic centering of the inner and outer taper (to virtually zero). The M96 is available in two popular shank options of ER25 and ER32 accommodating cutter diameters in a range of 6-20mm.

The new Pibomulti ‘Rainbow’ range of angle heads are assembled on a modular concept that creates cost savings of as much as 30% over standard fixed head units.

Available in fixed 90º, adjustable and slim-line designs with R65 and R80 indexing, there are 8 different types of modular shanks available including DIN, BT, HSK and Capto.

In effect, a customer can specify a head to precisely meet a specific machining requirement and the capability of the machine it is fitted to.  Pibomulti then assembles the bespoke head in a very short lead time and can supply it – as the product name implies – in a range of distinctive colours.

EWS, the highly respected manufacturer of driven and static toolholders for CNC lathes has upgraded its quick change Varia modular toolholding system into Varia-VX, offering increased performance for turning and milling processes.

Precise, fast and powerful, Varia-VX allows a maximum concentricity through the three point locking system and triangular drive spigot which has a positive effect regarding high spindle torque. This characteristic is of particular importance where small tool dimensions are being used and also permits use at torques up to 200 Nm.

Building on the initial success of its Power Check pull force gauge, OTT-Jakob now offers a mark III version of the unit that provides readings remotely via a handset, enabling the automated checking of the spindle pull-back force.

However, the all-important Power Check unit itself continuous to be an invaluable part of machine shop maintenance programmes providing highly accurate spindle force readings quickly and with very high precision.  Longer term, this can prevent catastrophic spindle failure but also detect problems that can lead to inaccuracy. An ideal scenario sees the Power Check housed within a nominated pocket in the machines’ tool carousel in readiness for the next spindle pull back reading. It can easily re-located from machine-to-machine.

Featured from clamping technology expert Simon Nann GmbH will be a modular quick change MZ manual clamping unit that converts the base unit from a conventional clamping head to a dead length collet system, a draw-back collet or for expanding mandrels.  MZ offers versatility being suited to double sided machining or machining of long parts (with a tailstock support).  A simple key movement through 180 degrees converts the base unit from clamped to unclamped.

Finally heat shrink clamping specialist Rineck will be featuring an upgraded induction heating device for undertaking clamping and unclamping of cutters in heat shrink toolholders.

The vertical ‘elevator’ design permits a compact benchtop installation and the unit features automatic tool cooling for safety and consistency. Both carbide tools (Ø3 – Ø32) and HSS (Ø6 – Ø32) can be shrunk in the 10Kw machine with all parameters, shrink times and performance data stored on the machine in its internal database.
