FAT Haco’s CNC Slant Bed Lathes

FAT, part of the Haco Group, is well established in its’ production of CNC lathes and special purpose machine tools. Founded over 100 years ago and with its own foundry, comprehensive machine shop and sheet metal/paint sections, FAT produces flat-bed and slant-bed lathes from small servo controlled teaching lathes to heavy duty 4–shear models for parts up to 100 tons in weight.

FAT Haco have two ranges of the CNC slant bed lathes, the FTM and FTC.

The FTM range are slant bed 5-axis multi-tasking CNC lathes equipped as standard with a Siemens 840 D SL CNC control with Shopturn, ideal for applications combining turning and milling. The FTM, which can process parts 1000mm in diameter and up to 12.5M long, can be equipped with various turrets, a tool magazine, Y / B axes, sub-spindle and milling/boring attachments.

Last year, FAT Haco installed a large FTM1000 lathe in Australia, this machine being equipped with a powerful milling head, a tool magazine integrated with an automatic tool changer, an exceptionally big spindle bore of Ø360mm, a special solution for using long boring bars and a sub-spindle – all these elements combining to provide the user with a powerful multi-purpose CNC lathe for a wide variety of parts up to 7500mm in length and up to Ø1000mm in diameter. FAT Haco also produce an FTM700 model and a small FTM165 machine.

The FCT are turn-only lathes and handle parts up to 4,100 mm long. These machines can be fitted with a Y-axis for flexibility and a heavy-duty gear box for high volume metal removal. The lathe is also equipped with a 12-station bi-directional tool turret with standard static VDI 50 tooling, resulting in lower costs for toolholders.
