HK Holdings Introduces the Next Generation EDM line

The EDM marketplace can now be significantly more productive and flexible with the latest Mitsubishi MV2400-ST that is now available from HK Holdings. This latest innovation is now capable of submerged cutting up to 457mm deep with full support of the best auto threading system on the market today.

Incorporating the latest advancements in machine construction and power supply technology, the MV2400-ST is sure to revolutionise EDM machining and increase shop floor productivity. For example, the new Mitsubishi MV2400-ST introduces an impressive annealing length of over 450mm that makes this system capable of threading the maximum workpiece height both at the start point and through the gap. This is an innovative new feature for end users that may need to recover broken wire.

The MV2400-ST also features a new, non-contact cylindrical drive system and the M700 series control with a particularly large 15-inch touch-screen. This Windows based control is both intuitive and user friendly and with the 15 inch screen, it improves operation for the end user.

From an operational cost perspective, the new MV2400-ST introduces Mitsubishi’s new V350-V AEII Power Supply DMX-S (Digital Matrix Sensor) that shapes each spark to reduce electrode wear considerably. This feature reduces consumable costs for the customer whilst reducing the power consumption and subsequent running costs of the machine.

From a productivity standpoint, the MV2400-ST introduces the World’s first Linear Shaft Drive System XY (UV-Z use ball screws),which delivers smooth, highly controllable movements and unparalleled precision levels. With unbeatable speed and precision, this new technology also requires less electricity. Coupled with this, the MV2400-ST has an ‘all fibre optic’ servo control  that permits internal communication that is four times faster than conventional systems.

All this technology is built upon a fine grain ‘Dianite’ casting material that guarantees the one-piece hardened 4-sided stainless work table is mounted on the most robust and precise high quality base available.

What this gives the end user is the capacity to process components up to 1050mm by 820 by 414mm (WxDxH) on the table that is 840 by 640mm. This particularly large work envelope is complemented by a maximum component submersion up to 1500kg. This spacious work area is confined to an overall machine footprint of 2837 by 3490mm, which makes the new MV2400-ST suitable for the most compact of machine shops.

With ease of use and high productivity at the core of this new machine, the MV2400-ST has a rapid table speed of 1300mm/min and automated fluid level control and a vertical machine tank door for improved set-up and operation.
