Independent manufacturing cell with supply of workpieces for one shift: Complete system greatly reduces commissioning time

Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH (SW), an expert in challenging, workpiece-specific manufacturing systems for metal working, is expanding its portfolio with a third plug-and-play-capable manufacturing cell: The complete system, which will be presented at this year's AMB, consists of a BA 3 series 2-spindle horizontal 5-axis machining center, a loading module with integrated 6-axis robot, and a vertical pallet storage unit for raw and finished parts.

The module enables loading and unloading of the machining center in parallel to machining time and is completely flanged onto the basic machine in the SW plant. This makes it possible to achieve especially short startup times at the customer site. The machine, robot and workpiece storage are designed as a crane hook solution to meet specific customer needs. Overhead robot mounting in the loading module provides more freedom of motion. The pallet storage is off set to the side, thus also allowing for manual loading of tools into the machine while requiring very little space. A maximum storage of 24 pallets size 600 x 400 mm can be fitted.

More productivity with SW concepts

Under the motto "Be Pro," SW is showing the machining of a housing for the control electronics of an electric drive to demonstrate that SW solutions also boost productivity many times over in unsupervised shifts. It also contributes to the uniform service concept called life: Consisting of a total of six service modules (academy, startUp, data, help, parts and upgrade) combined together to form a circuit, life services are taken into account already in the project planning phase to achieve maximum availability over the entire life of the machine. life data includes comprehensive data services such as digitization consulting, factory simulation and data analytics. SW has developed its own Cloud solution, which will also be presented at AMB. The SW CloudPlatform gives customers transparent and user-friendly access to the machine information and process data of their machining centers. Continuous performance monitoring of machining centers ensures greater transparency over the entire manufacturing process.
