ZCC Cutting Tools present NEW Milling inserts at AMB

At the AMB 2018 exhibition in Stuttgart, ZCC cutting tools introduced no fewer than three new product lines. MTD spoke to Norbert Reiche from ZCC who told us that the exhibition theme was ‘downsizing’.

To demonstrate this, Norbert explained that the existing 90 degree high feed milling line is now available with significantly smaller inserts that work in conjunction with existing toolholders. The new 90 degree high feed inserts offer even greater speed and feed rates with reduced insert costs. The application of smaller inserts makes sense as many high-feed tools only take nominal depths of cut in the region of 0.5 to 1mm.

As Norbert explained: “We reach a calculation point where there is no sense to machine deeper as the feed rate has to reduce. Furthermore, the smaller insert lines are more appropriate for smaller components.” Looking at the tangential milling line, Norbert states: “We have also downsized this line to 8mm. This offers a big advantage to machines with less spindle power and high feed rate capabilities.”

The third innovation is the 90 degree cutter body for 90 degree milling that accommodates high-feed milling inserts. This new development allows the customer to reduce costs by only having to change inserts and not purchase additional milling cutter bodies. This offers the end user high feed milling and shoulder cutters in one simple solution.
