#SwarfandChips – FOUR cycle time challenges at Citizen Open House – 24/05/2019 – Ep 128

A fun filled and educational Swarf and Chips this week. We visit the brand new Citizen Turning Centre of Excellence in Brierley Hill in the West Midlands. A fantastic facility, packed with machines.

We have a chat with Darren Wilkins the Deputy Managing Director of Citizen Machinery UK, and then get some education!

LFV, Low Frequency Vibration, it’s not just about the chip size, it can also;

–    Improve process security

–    Improve tool life

–    Power through those tricky materials

A quick tour of the facility including;

–    The ABX 64, a true powerhouse

–    The D25, providing full 5 axis machining

–    An L20 sliding head machine with a billet loader (where has the bar feed gone?)

Learn the difference between;

–    Fixed Head

–    Sliding Head

–    Swiss Type

–    Guidebush and

–    Non-Guidebush machines

And Isaac, who has the brain the size of a planet, talks us through;

–    Balanced turning

–    Pinch milling

–    Simultaneous machining and

–    Superimposed machining

Not bad for a show that’s only 20 minutes long!

Watch, Learn, Enjoy!
